It was the 70s when you came into my life, my sister Toni and I would watch you on The Partridge Family every week, We would get up early on a Saturday morning and ride our bikes to the newsagents just to buy every single paper that you were in, 10 times over lol. We would save these in a huge suitcase, eventually it was full. My Dad sadly threw it away when we were at work one day.We used to bunk off of school and get a bus to the Lido just to listen to you on the radio, at home you were constantly on the record player as we had all your albumbs, evertually I gave them to charity when I got older. When we knew that you were coming to the UK to do Concerts. We wanted to go to one so bad, Dad couldn`t take us as he worked, I`m not too sure if he would have anyway. So the only option we had was to ask the school. They got us a coach and very kindly took us and our friends to The White city in London in the 70s. How lucky as today you realise how big he was and to get to go to a concert then was just amazing. I remember running to the front, I was so lucky, at the front and on the barrier, It was a boiling hot day, and as the crowds built up it started to get very scary as you couldn`t breath. They were hose piping us to keep us cool and giving us water to drink. The stage was very high 20ft. When David came on it was Awesom just to see your Idol a few short feet away, this was David Cassidy in his prime. Simply gorgeous and a few short feet away, singing with his velvet tones, what a voice. But the fans were still pushing, I was getting crushed, I had to ask a bouncer to pull me out, I was hitting him over the head with my book just to get his attention, it was so load, especially with all the screaming, but he pulled me over and and then I asked him to pull my sister out as well, she was 5 rows back, but they got her out and she sat in front of the barrier, I walked round the white wall to the back and sat on the floor, I was a little bedraggled by now as I had put a rib out, smashed my leg up and the heel on my shoe was broken. But I wanted to just watch David on stage. A memory never to be forgotten. We saw this beautiful man at his peak. I would have loved to have met him, even at a meet and greet years later, I didn`t know he was touring again either. I heard later that he was in the IOW doing meet and greets, I wish i had known, only a ferry ride away. I didn`t even know that he was doing concerts again. I would have gone. When I got married at 21 life just took over, I had 4 children and then another child with my second husband, so as you can imagine, i was busy.I was really shocke when I heard on the TV that he was dying. Devastating news, so sad. He was so beautiful. I then started collecting everything and anything i could get my hands on. I have a huge collection of him now. I am currantly bit by bit showing on my David Cassidy site, which I have just recently opened to show off my Memorabilia.
