When I first discovered Arduaine Garden several years ago I found it totally captivating. A garden for all seasons, with many rare and interesting plants as well as familiar favourites. Whichever of the footpaths one chooses to follow the informal layout of flowerbeds and lawns, rockeries and water-gardens and the famous rhododendrons in Spring - all protected by the shelter of lovely trees - is sheer delight, enhanced by the coastal setting and splendid view over Loch Melfort. Not long ago referred to as the Secret Garden, Arduaine is a gem of peace and tranquillity wherein I find a sense of quiet joy. It would certainly be my choice to pass on to the next generation to enjoy as I and many other have done.

I should like to encourage the future of wild flower meadows. Apart from beauty, they are essential for wildlife, especially bees and other pollinating species, which are vital for food production.
