On 4 May 1991 the late Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, unveiled the original ‘Blitz’ Memorial, which was dedicated to Firefighters who had died in the course of their duties during World War 2.
In 2002, Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, accepted an invitation from the Board of Trustees to become our Patron.
The original Memorial was increased in height and rededicated in September 2003, and today serves as a tribute to all members of the Fire Service who, over time, have died in the course of their duties.
HRH Princess Anne gives great support to the Trust, and we are very proud to have her as our Patron. That support includes attendance at Trust events such as the rededication and unveiling of the ‘Firefighters Memorial’, the unveiling of the ‘Fire and Rescue Service Monument’ at the National Memorial Arboretum and, at an important moment in the history of the Trust when, in July 2011, she presented The Charter of Incorporation, which had been previously granted by Her Majesty the Queen.Table of Contents Next
