By the act of 20th July, 1776, it was

"Resolved, that the thanks of the United States of America be given to Major-General Lee… and the officers and soldiers under their command, who, on the 28th June last, repulsed with so much valor, the attack which was made on that day on the State of South Carolina by the fleet and army of his Britannic Majesty."

Taken prisoner at Baskenridge, 13th December, 1776;
Exchanged (6th May, 1778;
Informed that his services were no longer required, 10th January, 1780.
(Died 2nd October, 1782.)
