Celebration by: Tracey Southall

Date added: 12 Sep 2015

Rick was a big man with an even bigger heart. He was devoted to his wife Linda and they were both animal lovers, with dogs and labradors in particular being a favourite.

They had three dogs that were very much part of the family, Toby, Bonnie and lastly Tess the black lab. In later years they also took in a rescue cat Holly who now lives happily with Rick's sister Trish. Lin and Rick were both avid supporters of the Guide Dogs charity when they were alive and so we, his family wanted to createthis remembrance book to celebrate how special and much loved they are. They remain in our hearts and minds forever.

We used half the proceeds of the very generous collection at Rick's funeral to donate to the Guide Dogs and are sponsoring a young puppy named Zeb. He looks full of mischievous life and I am sure Lin and Rick would approve.

Rick was  first son, second child of 13 children and loved his parents Doreen and Desmond very much remaining a strong, loyal son throughout their lives. He worked at the SDF - a drop-forge with his dad and although he did move on to IMI Summerfield he always described himself as a Forgeman and was proud of his roots. His family and friends are devastated by his unexpected death but take comfort from our many memories and also from the sponsorship of young Zeb.
