Portrait of Sir William Bates Ingilby at Ripley Castle and the position he held with Lt. Col. Gardiner's "E" Troop at Waterloo in 1815.
By sheer coincidence his signet ring was found in March this year in the deer park at Ripley by the West Yorkshire Metal Detector Group. It is not known, however, whether he was wearing it during the Battle of Waterloo.
