My Great Great Great Grandfather, Christopher Walker was a career soldier who fought through the American Wars & then the Peninsula Campaign all the way to Waterloo under Capt Edgell.
He was born in Ripon, Yorkshire and became locally well known as 3000 turned up at Ripon Cathedral for his funeral where he was buried with honours. He also served in prisoner transport to Australia and served in New South Wales before his retirement. His daughter married a man named Thomas Goodman and the family moved to Bradford where we are to this day. The last I heard his medal was sold at auction in Liverpool to a collector but I wish it was still in the family possession. We are very proud to have such a loyal and heroic figure in our family tree.
He married a French woman named Anne Sophie and she taught her children French. They lived at Cumberland Fort near Portsmouth before returning to Ripon where he retired.
