Pte John Robinson ROBERTSON is one of the 372 British Servicemen who died on active service during the four-year Cyprus Emergency April 1 1955 to April 18 1959, and whose name is among those remembered with honour on the British Cyprus Memorial. Serving with the Durham Light Infantry he was killed when his vehicle ran over a landmine at Kedhares during anti-terrorist operations in the Paphos area on November 9 1958. Aged 19 from Edinburgh he is buried at Wayne’s Keep, the British military cemetery in Cyprus, Plot 25 Row C Grave 18.
