I spent the Saturday, May 3rd, with William Cameron and Brian Turvey, photographing them for their local newpapers. I was with Army Public Relations. We had a great day laughing and joking and generally larking about in the PR compound. It was ahappy day, their last words to me were,'can we have copies for our Mums'
I promised. On the monday, because they had been killed I was ordered to destroy the negatives but kept the prints to keep my promise but, they were confiscated from me at Nicosia airport on my demob return. That duty officer would have kept them and he deprived those Mums of the memory of the last day of happy life of their sons. God bless them.
All those lads in that sun baked soil need to be repatriated to their homeland.
