Major Edwin Alexander ANDREWS is one of the 372 British Servicemen who died on active service during the four-year Cyprus Emergency April 1 1955 to April 18 1959, and whose name is among those remembered with honour on the British Cyprus Memorial. Serving with 188 RAD Battery, Royal Artillery, Middlesex, he was one of two killed on October 30 1958 when a pressure mine exploded near his battery headquarters at Cape Elea, destroying his vehicle. Aged 38 from Harrow Middx., he is buried at Wayne’s Keep, the British military cemetery in Cyprus, Plot 25, Row C Grave 11. See also Gunner JASPER
