Chief Technician Cecil Edward AUSTIN is one of the 372 British Servicemen who died on active service during the four-year Cyprus Emergency April 1 1955 to April 18 1959, and whose name is among those remembered with honour on the British Cyprus Memorial. Serving with the RAF, he was killed when a bomb blew up a road bridge in Limassol on November 9 1956. Aged 35 from Somerset he is buried at Wayne’s Keep, the British military cemetery in Cyprus, Plot 23 Row d Grave 4.
