Sapper John David HOLLELY is one of the 372 British Servicemen who died on active service during the four-year Cyprus Emergency April 1 1955 to April 18 1959, and whose name is among those remembered with honour on the British Cyprus Memorial. Serving with the Royal Engineers, he was one of three Sappers killed when an electronically-detonated bomb exploded under their vehicle on the Episkopi road near Limassol on June 12 1956. Aged 19 from Dagenham Essex he is buried at Wayne’s Keep, the British military cemetery in Cyprus, Plot 21 Row A Grave 3. See also Sappers MARCHANT & MORGAN.
