    Andrew Figgins

    Helston, United Kingdom | 16 Jun 2018

I met Andy in the early 1990’s, when he joined Met School for his Forecasters Course. He quickly became a close friend and integral part of my life. As Black Adder would say, “I loved him like a brother, well more like an illegitimate back street sprog really!” He has always been an inspiration to me and later in our careers, he also became a fantastic mentor, coach and boss. He genuinely touched the lives of everyone he met and I will dearly miss him. RIP Buddy x

It is with great sadness that I happened upon this book of condolence. I was in the Metoc branch for the best part of 27 years and I left the RN in Jan 2013. I was immediately drawn to Andy's  warmth as a human being, gentle humour and determination to succeed.  We spent a lot of time working together over the years. I will remember a true man of all seasons, able to be a boss, a friend and a comrade. A rare quality. The world has lost a star and I shall miss him always.
