    A remarkable postcard showing the photograph of the last 5 survivors of the Battle of Waterloo as Chelsea pensioners in June 1880 - 65 years after the battle - including John McKay aged 95 of 42nd Regiment, Robert Norton aged 90 of 34th Regiment, Naish Hanney aged 88 of 7th Hussars, Benjamin Burnstead aged 82 of 73rd Regiment and Sampson Webb aged 82 of 3rd Foot Guards

    JON GLEDHILL FIRST LIFE GUARDS - family history records that Jonathan returned with a horse which he had won in combat. The War Office tried to claim the horse for the Crown but Jonathan argued that he was entitled to keep the animal. Jonathan died as a Chelsea Pensioner 16th October 1859, having been discharged 26th November 1823. His medal passed to his daughter Ann Eliza, who married John William SMITH.
