With home working it is sometimes difficult to realise Matt has gone.  He often drops into my thoughts, just an occasion remembered, a thought to call him to ask him a question or a moment when I wonder how he would have dealt with a matter.  Each time, it is a painful reminder of the loss.  Whilst I will miss him in so many ways, it is the loss to his family, as a husband and father and son, that pains me the most.  I hope they can find solace in their memories of him and how much he meant to so many; that he was a life cut far too short; that during his time he was a positive energy that made a difference.  Here's to Matt, may we continue to learn from him and remember him well.

I have known Matt for 20 years. He was a trainee at Clarke Willmott in 2000 and I watched him over the years develop into a genuine expert in his field. He was one of those colleagues to whom I looked for help and advice and he always got it right. He was also incredibly passionate about rugby and his beloved Bath Rugby. As a Bristol Bears supporter this inevitably led to many hours of great banter especially on Monday mornings. Over the years I pitched for work with Matt and he was always first class and capable of impressing clients with his knowledge and his passion. He as much as any member of the residential development team was responsible for the success the team has enjoyed over the last 20 years. He will be impossible to replace but thanks to his generosity in terms of his time we have numerous Matt disciples who will continue his brilliant work. We will miss him as a colleague but the loss of a friend is far more painful. RIP Matt
