Colin Scott Barber June 6th, 1916 to December 4th 2009

Colin Barber passed away peacefully early on December 4th 2009 at the Oshawa Hospital.
Colin was a member of the RAF during World War 2, he spent time in the 88th Squadron. As an Airman he was evacuated from France during the Dunkirk campaign. Colin also was part of a flight crew whom crashed in the Libyan desert. All members survived and walked for a week at night before being found by a patrol and re-patrioted. He spent the latter part of the war as an air controller at Tangmere air base in the UK among others. His skill singlehandedly saving the lives of a lost flight crew coming into Britain from North Africa. He vectored them into the airfield at night in bad weather saving the lives of all on board. If it wasn’t for Colin they would have crashed into the Ocean. He was a Boxing Champion, Merchant Mariner, a celebrated salesman and a dedicated Father, Grandfather and loving Husband. His example lives on for all who knew him. “Taid” You will be missed.
Colin is survived by his dear wife Edith Barber. Son’s Steven and Simon, Daughter Sharon, Daughters in Law Nora, Brenda and Michelle. Grand Daughters Tori, Ashleigh and Jessica and Great Grand Daughter Eden. Grandson’s in Law Steve and Mark.

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings,
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of .....
