As of yesterday he was laid to rest in full recognition of his life and service to many friends and associations at home and overseas.
A full congregation at his local church in Belfast with a guard of honour by the local Boys Brigade of which he was their Captain and of course members of the REA branch was also honoured in carrying him from the service led by his grandson playing the pipes to the transport which took him to his home town church for his internment. There were many RE members of different regimental units in attendance as there was with other associations that he was a member, chairman or president of.
His daughter Cathy gave a wonderful eulogy of his life from his days as a civil engineer to his time in the TA and them receiving the OBE from the Queen also most recently he another high distinguished honour Legion of Merit for his work in charitable organisations.
He is now at rest and the family can do their best and build up the memory portfolio and try and get back to the normality if that is possible.
May he rest in peace.
