Lieutenant Henry BUCKLEY was part of the 15th Light Dragoons also known as the King’s Hussars. The King's Hussars was a cavalry regiment in the British Army. He took part in the famous Battle of Waterloo but sadly died on June 18th 1815. He was19 Years old at the time.

There is a Memorial at Museum of Garden History, Lambeth, London - "To the memory of Henry Buckley, Lieutenant in the 15th Hussars, who died at Waterloo, June 18th 1815 in the 19th year of his age. He was struck by a musket ball and mortally wounded."

The Battle of Waterloo was fought on Sunday, 18June 1815, near Waterloo in present-day Belgium, then part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. A French army under the command of Napoleon was defeated by the armies of the Seventh Coalition, comprising an Anglo-allied army under the command of the Duke of Wellington combined with a Prussian army under the command of Gebhard von Blücher.

The Battle of Waterloo on June 18, 1815, saw over 250,000 men from at least seven nations in action. More than 11,000 were left dead and 33,000 wounded. It was one of the largest and bloodiest pre-twentieth-century European battles.

A memorial headstone recognising the death of Henry Buckley is held at St. Joseph Church at Waterloo.
