Dear Diary,

Today’s entry has to be short. I don’t have much time. We leave for the battlefield today – this is my first time! I might die but who cares. I’m fighting for my country. I miss my mother and my father. Do I want to do this? If I surrender I’ll be tortured so it’ll hurt but I’m not giving up. I’m going down fighting.

The men around me are crying, too scared to go and fight. We know out there that nobody is safe in the war zone. I’m only 19 years old and I miss London. My home and my family. Almost all of my family is waiting for me to come home. I don’t know where they are now but I hope they’re ok.

This could be last entry, I’m leaving now so goodbye.

Harry

I woke up this morning,

A feeling of uncertainty,

But it’s normal,

For days like these.

But, I feel unsure of my life now.

I go out for battle,

We battle for a good five minutes then,

Someone gets shot,

Men DROP,

SPLATTING in to the mud below.

It’s like a war field.

The chaos was uncalled for.

Falling, collapsing;

All the same thing.

MEN DIED THAT DAY!

OW!

The canon ball penetrates through my legs,

I try to remain calm,

Panic arises.

Finally, the last canon ball penetrates through my stomach…
