Mrs Day writes "My father, Tommy, served and was wounded in the 1914-18 war, and he played the Last Post at the War Memorial service on Remembrance Sunday every year until his death in 1935.  He volunteered for St John Ambulance in Colne and helped people who were injured in local accidents.  He attended many situations where people called on St John Ambulance - calling out the doctor was something to be avoided as they had to be paid for!
