Date added: 23 Sep 2014

During the 1939-45 war my husband served in the Home Guard and was also in St John Ambulance.  I was a WAAF and we met when my street was bombed, killing 30 of our neighbours who were in the shelters.  My parents and I survived even though we lost our home, and I met John when he treated my injuries.  He kept in touch, even visiting me in hospital, and eventually we married in July 1944.  We had three children and many blissful years together.  He died in 1993 and I still miss him so much - St John's and memories of when we met will always be in my heart.

I will never forget the many happy family memories and the wonderful years we had together with our children.  To date there are 22 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild expected later in 2014.

Mrs Eileen Haggerty
