This dedication to my father came a little by accident when researching a trip I'm making to Berlin. I was hoping to find some more information to try and retrace a few of his footsteps that he made during his time in Berlin during the airlift. I recently went back to his own personal archieves ( a shoebox) of the airlift, photos of fellow signalmen and all of his national service paperwork (should the call have come again), I think he kept it all and it's fascinating to read it all again.
I know he enjoyed his time in Berlin and witnessed the post war issues of a crushed nation and how he tried to make a difference to grateful surviving Berliners, something I believe lives on to this day, politically and personally.
When in Berlin I intend to try and find the right time and location to leave his dog tags behind in the city, something I know he would have appreciated.
