It is a pleasure as Dean of Westminster to leave the first message and to encourage as many people as possible, from all parts of the globe, to become a part of Westminster Abbey’s history.
The Jubilee Galleries will transform the experience of visiting the Abbey and, with the Access Tower, enhance for centuries to come the beauty and wonder of this sacred and special building. It is a privilege to contribute in a very modest way to this unique addition to the Abbey's long history.
With this project the Abbey meets the challenge of the new century. Change and innovation will give new energy and relevance to one of the nation's greatest historic buildings.
The plans and drawings of the access tower and the Galleries confirm the special beauty of this addition to Westminster Abbey. Can't wait!
It is rare for a "new" medieval space to be revealed, exceptionally so when it is a close-up glimpse of one of England's greatest churches. Westminster's triforium is a brilliant excursion into a lost age, a tribute paid by the architects of today to those of yesterday.
Westminster Abbey is at the heart of our country's history and our country's faith and has always been a very special place for me. I'm delighted to play a small part in its future.
