Date added: 6 Feb 2009

Glen served in the Royal Air Force during and after World War II. He rose from the rank of AC2 at RAF Biggin Hill in 1939 to Flt Sgt rear gunner with 77 Sqn. on the Halifax Mk3 aircraft "Winsom Wendy" in 1942/3, at RAF Full Sutton. Later that year after 31 missions spanning 2 tours of duty He was awarded the Distuished Flying Medal for his skill with the brownings (shooting down not only an ME262 but a series of me109s) along with number of other decorations during his tours of duty. He was commissioned as a Pilot Officer and was posted to RAF Haifa in Palestine as a OC Fire Section and returned to England a year later, where he finally became a FLT.LT and Adjutunt to Air Commodore Dizzy Forrow at RAF Henlow. His nickname is derived from the selfless acts of support given to distressed Airman and their families when needed. He was Dad to two girls and 4 boys and leaves Kathleen, a caring, loving wife and Mother.
